Fire safety

The fire protection system in the Building covers two subsystems: fire warning system and fire extinguishing equipment (hydrants and fire extinguishers).

  • If a fire is detected, the Sound Warning System (SWS) broadcasts the evacuation message from the speakers located throughout the Building. This message is broadcast for the area at risk (floor on which the fire was detected), in staircases and in the parking lot. A warning message is automatically generated on adjacent floors. The message is broadcast in Polish and English.
  • According to fire regulations, fire drills must be carried out regularly, at least every 2 years. Such drills are usually carried out with the participation of the representatives of the National Fire Service, fire safety expert for the Building and the representatives of the Building maintenance services. The date of the fire drill is agreed by the Property Manager with representatives of the Building Tenants.

 

Evacuation plans

The escape routes in the Building are marked with appropriate pictograms. Evacuation takes place through the exits on level 0 of two emergency staircases located in the Building.

All employees are directly responsible for the fire safety in the Generation Z building and are obliged to: 

  • Knowledge of FIRE RISK and other local threats in the rooms used and the methods of preventing and fighting fires.
  • Performing work in accordance with the FIRE RULES and the Fire Safety Instructions.
  • Participation in fire training courses and in practical checking of the organization and conditions of evacuation in buildings.
  • Knowledge of the RULES OF PROCEDURE in the event of a fire and other local hazard and METHODS OF ALARMING colleagues, superiors, facility security staff and the State Fire Service.
  • Knowledge of the conditions and principles of EFFICIENT EVACUATION of people and property from buildings and the location of emergency exits near the workplace and the possibility of opening them.
  • Knowledge of the location, close to one's own workstation, FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND FIRE DEVICES and the ability to use them.
  • Take action to AVOID DANGER to health or life to the best of your knowledge and capabilities and available technical means.
  • Taking care of the proper condition of devices and equipment as well as order in the workplace.
  • NOTIFY your supervisor immediately about ANY PROBLEMS that may cause a fire or spread to fire or other local hazards.
  • Do NOT PLACE any materials/boxes, etc. on access to fire extinguishers, indoor hydrants and fire protection equipment points, and NOT to BLOCK escape routes and emergency exits.
  • It is forbidden to smoke and use open fire in places where this prohibition is in force.

 

  Manual Fire Alarm

In the communication routes (corridors in our office) there are MFA buttons (Manual Fire Alarms).

Under no circumstances should the MFA button be unreasonably pressed.

The use of the MFA is permissible only during a fire, by hitting the glass (it will break it and tilt it).

In the event of an emergency, pressing the MFA button will result in an immediate evacuation procedure (2nd stage fire alarm), smoke extraction and sending a message to the State Fire Service.

The consequence of an unjustified fire alarm, which is always associated with the arrival of fire brigades, is a mandate imposed by the State Fire Service. The building user who unjustifiably uses the MFA button will be charged with the costs of the actions of the State Fire Service and the costs of restoring the systems to normal operation.

Fire protection system in the building

The fire protection system includes: fire extinguishing devices (internal hydrants and fire extinguishers), fire alarm system (SSP) and Voice Alarm System (VAS/DSO).

If a fire is detected, the Voice Alarm System (VAS) sends an evacuation message from loudspeakers located on the entire surface of the building. The information is broadcast on the endangered area (floor on which the fire was detected), on staircases and in the garage. A warning message is generated automatically on adjacent floors. The announcement is made in Polish and English.

The bolts in the door equipped with the access control system are automatically released. This means that in the event of a threat in the evacuation routes and in rooms on the floor to which the detected risk relates, it is possible to open the door without using an access control card.

    Fire extinguishing devices

Fire extinguishing devices include: hydrant installation, fire extinguishers and external fire hydrants.

In accordance with the regulations for high buildings (over 25 meters), fire hoses are placed in the staircases in the elevator hall at all levels.

The internal fire-fighting water supply is delivered from the external water-supply network. The reserve reservoir with water is located on level -2. Through a pump system, they supply water to all fire fighting devices in the building. The exact location is presented in the Fire Safety Manual.

Fire detection and audio warning system

The second part of the fire protection system is the fire alarm system. It activates smoke exhaust and supply ventilation systems for escape routes, automatically releases fire barriers, fire doors and fire blockades, fire suppression systems, alarm announcement system in the Voice Alarm System (VAS), release of access control locks, operation of elevators in emergency mode (elevators automatically descend to level 0, where they stop with opened doors) and an alarm signal is automatically sent to the State Fire Service . If a fire is detected by an automatic detection system, the signal is sent to the dispatcher's station with 24-hour supervision.

Each alarm is checked by building security agents, and the time for verification by the security services is 3 minutes. If a false alarm is recognized, the signal is canceled, and if a threat is detected and the 3 minutes have elapsed, the system automatically notifies the State Fire Service and transmits a message from the Voice Alarm System (VAS) from loudspeakers located on the entire area of the Building.

The evacuation message is broadcast depending on the situation on the endangered surface (e.g. the floor where the fire was detected), in emergency staircases and in the garage. A warning message is generated automatically on adjacent floors.

The evacuation announcement will be made in Polish and English with the following content:

"Attention, attention. A threat has been detected in the building. We ask you to immediately leave the building calmly using the nearest emergency exit. Please do not use elevators and cars left in the garage . " During this time, a warning message is generated automatically on the adjacent floors: " Attention, attention. A threat has been detected in the Building. The room you are in is currently safe. However, please stop all activities, stay where you are and await further instructions."

After the threat ceases, the operator launches a message canceling the threat with the following message:

"Attention, attention. Please be advised that the threat in the building has ceased. Your health and life are no longer in danger. Please calmly return to previously performed activities."

Garages

In times of emergency, follow the announced evacuation announcements and proceed to the staircases to level 0 (evacuation level), as indicated. Do not use cars left in garages.

Emergency exits to staircases are provided in individual fire zones from two levels of the underground garage.

In the event of a 2nd stage alarm at the garage level, the firewall between levels -1 and -2 closes automatically. Closing the fire protection barriers is pictured by a flashing lamp.

After each fire alarm, the barriers are moved manually, allowing the movement of vehicles.

The arms of the barriers in parking lots during the 2nd degree alarm - open automatically.
