What are the ADS password requirements?

Your ADS password MUST:

• Have a minimum length of eight (8) characters and contain three (3) out of four (4) of these elements:
  • Special Character
  • Uppercase letter
  • Lowercase letter
  • Number
• Be unique to the previous twelve (12) passwords

Your ADS password MUST NOT:

• Reside on a predefined list of known weak passwords. NOTE: This means that a new ADS password you select may be rejected even if it meets the complexity requirements stated in the Password Management Standard.
• Contain a well-known acronym or term, or one used internally at American Express, such as “amex” or “axp”
• Include a keyboard sequence with more than three (3) characters, such as “qwerty” or “1234”
• Contain a repeating pattern with three (3) or more instances, such as “BuyBuyBuy”
• Include characters in a sequence with more than three (3) characters, such as “wxyz”
